Happy early birthday!!
First of all, for my family members and other friends, I completed this painting first because this is his senior year and this year may be the last year I get to see him.
Brace yourselves, there is gonna be a long ass description
...if u decide to read all this that is.. 1. Hair/its color/Cheetos: Ok, so his hair is not really orange, but if he were to be an anime character, he would want his hair color to be orange. His hair, as he’s been told, that it looks like burnt Cheetos, spiders, a mop, and many other things. At first I must admit, I didn’t like his hair. 
But it makes him unique and stand out within a crowd, and I’m beginning to like it more. I also like it because it reflects his culture. He has one hair strand that is a different color so I decided to use complementary colors with the orange and the blue.
2. The stones on his head: He wears the white one as a necklace and the purple one as a bracelet.
These represent healing the body as well as other meanings.
3. Yin and Yang/fire and water: He has this awesome symbol as a necklace as well and always talks about fire and water, and that everyone has these different sides to them too.
4. Feathers in his eyes: He’s always usually happy and feathers represent that he’s carefree.
To me, or that is how I see it.
5. Tables: These are the tables in the art room, where we met because one of favorite our passion is to create art. And this is the place where we became friends, and holds a lot of good memories. 
6. The colors on the tables and his shirt: These colors represent African culture and he wears shirts of this combination a lot.
7. Ramen noodles: He doesn’t want the American version of this dish. He wants the actual kind made by the Japanese and is determined to find a place to finally get a true taste of it.
8. Chinese symbol on the bowl: This stands for “Tiger” for he was born in one of the years of the tiger in the Chinese zodiac. The tiger symbolizes that people born of this animal, are kind, hard- working, and independent. (from a book)
9. Flags on the bowl: The left of the Chinese symbol is the Jamaican flag, and to the right is the Cuban flag. He’s mainly Jamaican, and on his mom is somewhat Cuban. And I decided to include the Cuban flag, to show that his mom is more important than his dad haha. 
Won’t go in depth of that.
10. The symbol on the eraser: This is NOT the Nazi symbol. I was told by him, that it derived from Hindu, or the Indian language I believe, and it is a peace symbol. Hitler just ruined and changed the meaning…
11. Art supplies: He likes to use markers mainly as a medium, but he also uses other traditional mediums. And only does traditional art.
12. Penguin: He likes penguins. They are cute, chubby, and fluffy, well soft, my view on penguins, and his I don’t know but maybe for those same reasons too.
13. Cupcake: Our art teacher gave these cupcakes of the same colored frosting and vanilla bottom to us, though the wrapping was truly white, I made it pink so it would have more color and value.
14. Pretzel: these were the first snacks or food offered to me by him, but I wouldn’t take it because I told him I was taught to never take anything from anyone.
15. Tangerines: I decided to finally take advice from him, and this was the first time I took food from him.
16. The flood and tea bag: The pink ocean is supposed to be his addiction to tea. But who doesn’t love tea? It’s delicious.
17. Flowers: Theses are orange cherry blossoms, because he has them on his pillow cases and likes them, and yes he is very Asian.
18. The pink and blue chairs: This has to be one of the cutest symbols ever, in my opinion. 
He saw these chairs of the same colors before. After the birth of his niece and nephew, he believes that the chairs foreshadowed that. And their first initials of the kids’ names I included on the chairs as well.
19. My initial/signature/stamp in the small bottom right corner: I never had one before, but I came up with it as I got to know Matt. And it is something that represents me. My eyes shine a different and glowing, don’t know how to describe this, color when the sun hits my eyes. I have known that about my eyes, but he noticed it to one day and to him it means something special, it does to me too, but I believe our meanings may be different…yet maybe similar too. To him, my hair reminds him of water. So I combined the two, and came up with that.
20. His socks: The way he wears his socks are a trend from where he used to live in Brooklyn New York.
But yeah that is all of it! I’m glad him and his family loves it.
I hope I got everything right too about him.
Haha I will miss you when this school year ends.
